Sunday School News
November Edition - 2006
The wind is howling and the leaves have fallen...
The night is early and dark ... The stars are big and bright...
Christmas is not too far away...
and neither is our White Gift Service!!!
December 3 is our White Gift Service for both the 9 am and 10:30 am
services.
Our White Gift service this year is “The Hanging of the Greens.” Each
week the children will be learning about the different “green”
symbols of Christmas - The Garland - God’s Welcome Extended to
All People; The Poinsettia - A Symbol of the Unexpected; The
Wreath - A Symbol of Never-Ending Love; Mistletoe - The Promise
of Peace and The Christmas Tree - A Symbol of Celebration and
Rebirth. They will be creating some of these symbols to hang in
the sanctuary during the White Gift service.
Starting today - November 12, the children are practicing two songs to
sing for White Gift. They are printed on the other side of this
flyer. Please practice these songs at home with your child.
It is important for them to be in Sunday School for the next several
weeks including White Gift. Please call the office at 824-4800
and let Rev. Andy know if your child will not be at church on
December 3. The older children of the Sunday School will have
reading parts. The younger children will participate in helping
hang the symbols they have created in the sanctuary, handing out
bulletins, and of course singing the two songs.
December 3 is also our Christmas Party following the 10:30 am
service. This will take place in the Auditorium. You are invited
to bring “finger” food for the potluck lunch. Coffee, tea and
punch will be provided. There will be carol singing and a
piñata for the children. Please join us for this merry time!
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Songs for White Gift Sunday...
AWAY IN A MANGER
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
the little Lord Jesus
laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky
looked down where he lay,
the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,,
but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.
I love you, Lord Jesus;
look down from the sky,
and stay by my side until morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay
close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children
in your tender care,
and fit us for heaven,
to live with you there.

Little Jesus
Little Jesus, sleep in the hay;
little Jesus, too small to play.
Mary singing, Joseph nearby;
who will see your star in the sky?
Little Jesus, sleep in the hay;
little Jesus, too small to play.
Little Jesus, soon you’ll grow tall;
you’ll be showing God’s love to all.
