Meet our Staff

Ministerial Staff

Ministers:

Rev. Gaylyn McLean and Rev. John Benham
Rev. John Benham is a graduate of Emanuel College, University of Toronto and was ordained at Toronto Conference in 1988.  John has served in pastoral charges in Hazelton British Columbia, Evansburg Alberta, and Chatsworth, Palmerston and most recently at St. Paul’s in Milton.  John was born in Guelph, but raised in Brampton.   While growing up in the United Church John has always enjoyed working collaboratively with the wider community including his colleagues from different walks of faith.   John is convinced that Christ’s love creates new relationships of compassion and hope when we “risk together” in faith.  As John strives to find balance between his ministry and family, he’s also enjoys making time for: running, downhill skiing, most sports, canoeing, reading and music.

Rev. Gaylyn McLean is a graduate of Emmanuel College, University of Toronto and was ordained at Hamilton Conference in 1995. Gaylyn has served in pastoral charges in Happy Valley – Goose Bay, Labrador,  Englehart, Northern Ontario, Port Nelson, Burlington, Carlisle-Kilbride and St. Paul’s, Milton. Always in Team Ministry Gaylyn enjoys a collaborative working environment and has strived to maintain a balance between ministry and family life. Raised in a Baptist tradition Gaylyn found a better fit for her more liberal and inclusive theological position in the United Church. In her spare time, Gaylyn enjoys the outdoors, walking, cycling, swimming, skating as well as music, reading and the arts.

John and Gaylyn are excited to be at Trinity United Church in Guelph.  The people are welcoming and caring.  Trinity is truly a community congregation where everyone is accepted just as you are.  Trinity is a congregation on the go with ministry but it’s also a place of spiritual renewal where God is at the center of everything we do.   Come and join us on Sunday for worship or any day and discover how the Spirit of Christ is guiding us along the journey of life and faith.
